Travel Allowance
|
8th January, 2007 Dear Internet Client RE: Travel Allowance Just a quick note for your reference to update you on the maximum amounts that can be drawn in T/A without substantiation or the need to retain receipts. These rates for T/A apply to employees who have a salary under $84250, and I think most people in your business fall under this level !. Place Total $ - Per Day - 2006/2007 When you travel overnight on the job, away from your normal place of work, you have the choice to pay T/A for reimbursement of your travel and accommodation expenses or actually pay for the cost of travel and accommodation, but not both. In most cases you are able to claim a higher amount through the T/A. GST If you pay an allowance, then you are unable to claim an input credit. As an alternative you may wish to claim the actual cost of the accommodation claiming the input credit, and an allowance for other amounts. If you wish to do this, then pay for the accommodation, and claim an allowance for food and incidentals in capital cities of $91 and $84 in non capital cities. When drawing the T/A please record brief details of the trip, ie Top Springs, Gove, etc, a simple note on the cheque butts would suffice. If you travel more than 6 consecutive days away, you will need to keep a travel diary of your trip. Should you have any queries or need any further information regarding the above please do not hesitate to contact me, Sincerely
